Virology
We deal with viral infections of
- Birds (ornamental birds and commercial poultry, as well as zoo birds, wild birds and birds of prey)
- Reptiles and amphibians
- Fish
The diagnosis is based on a wide range of detection methods in accordance with scientific standards
- Detection of viral DNA or RNA (PCR, RT-PCR, real-time PCR, sequencing)
- Detection of antibodies (ELISA, Western blot, serum neutralisation test, haemagglutination inhibition tests, agar gel precipitation)
- Virus growing (cell culture, egg growing)
We offer the following examinations, amongst others:
- Avian Bornaviruses in parrots: virus genome (RNA) detection and antibody detection
- Psittacine circoviruses (PBFD): DNA detection
- Avian polyomaviruses: DNA and antibody detection
- Parrot herpesviruses (Pacheco): DNA and antibody detection

We are pleased to accept submissions from veterinarians in private practice or animal owners for the examination. In addition, we examine samples from animals from the clinic's own patient population and pathology, also within the context of emergency diagnostics.
