Externship and guest students

As a student of veterinary medicine or veterinarian, you have the opportunity with us to complete voluntary or compulsory work experience in the various departments. The minimum length of a work experience course is three weeks per department.

In the outpatient bird, reptile and ornamental fish clinic, a period of work experience includes, amongst other things, the following assignments under veterinary guidance:

  • Care and treatment of the inpatients
  • Preparation of treatment plans
  • Assistance during the surgery hours
  • Participation in weekend or public holiday services as an additional secondary service every four weeks
  • Responsibility for order on the ward
